What information do we collect?
In order to carry out our business function, we collect information. Some you provide directly to us and some is provided to us by third parties.
We collect personal information that you provide directly to us. For example, we collect personal information when you participate in our research projects (surveys, focus groups, in-depth interviews, screenings, etc.).
Sometimes, we collect information that is provided to us by third parties. For example, a third party may share your information so we can invite you to participate in a research project (surveys, focus groups, in-depth interviews, screenings, etc.).
The type of personal information we may collect includes your likeness via video interviewing, first and last name, gender, phone number, email address, age, birthdate, nationality, occupation, income, education, ethnicity, address and/or other basic demographic information.
For those who complete our surveys and participate in interviews with us, we also collect information related to the questions you are asked.
No information that could enable anyone to identify you individually is ever sold.
How do we use the information we collect?
We use the information for your business purposes including:
- Inviting you to participate in research projects
- Contacting you with follow-up questions from past research projects
- Analyzing data obtained during research projects
- Paying out incentives for participating in research projects
- Cooperating with law enforcement
- Complying with and enforcing applicable legal obligations
- Responding to legitimate governmental requests
- Providing customer support and responding to your requests
- Authenticating your identity
How long do we keep your personal data?
We will not store your data for longer than is required for our business needs and legal obligations.
Can I refuse to give consent?
Yes. You are not required to provide consent. While there is no penalty for refusing to provide consent, you will not be able to participate in any NRG studies/surveys unless we have your consent. You may also withdraw consent at any time and request that your information be deleted in accordance with applicable law.
We will not discriminate against your for refusing to provide consent, withdrawing consent or exercising any rights under this Policy.
What are my rights with respect to my personal information as a California resident?
In addition to the other rights listed, as a California resident you are also entitled to the following under the California Consumer Privacy Act “CCPA”): If you choose to provide consent, you have the right to know what kind of information is being collected, sold and transferred, where and for what purpose it has been collected. You have the right to make a request for the specific information and categories of personal information that has been collected about you in the past 12 months, what categories of the personal information were sold or disclosed for business purposes, the categories of sources from which personal information was collected, categories of third parties with whom NRG has shared your personal information.
You have the right to request that your personal information be deleted. You also have the right to opt-out. In other words you have the right to request that we do not “sell” your personal information. According to the CCPA, a business “sells” your information when it sells, rents, releases, discloses, disseminates, makes available, transfers, or otherwise communicates orally, in writing, or by electronic or other means, a consumer’s personal information to another business or a third party for monetary or other valuable consideration.” You also have the right to be notified when your requests have been fulfilled.
Pursuant to the law, Peerless Insights will have to verify your identity before fulfilling these requests. In doing so, Peerless Insights will make use of your personal information and take steps reasonably necessary to perform the verification.
